Elisabeth Vogler is an actress who has decided to go mute and Sister Alma is the nurse who has been assigned to look after her; a peculiar condition of self-willed silence and a familiar relationship of nurse and patient – up until they move to a cottage by the sea. Will Elisabeth finally speak, or will Alma grow weary of this unrelenting actress? With no one around for miles, Elisabeth Vogler and Sister Alma have to bear the blaring silence, their loneliness, and the question of letting yourself be what you are.
